It's been a few months since out last update here, but we wanted to bring you all up to speed on our summer activities. We've been hard at work getting the Landmarks EP ready for production. After much work preparing the record jacket, dodging potential manufacturing issues, etc., we're happy to inform you that the pressing process is well underway at this point and the record will be out, barring some sort of catastrophe, later this fall. We don't have an exact release date yet, but stay tuned. For the most up to date information, please follow us on Facebook and Twitter. More importantly, follow Landmarks on Facebook and Twitter. These guys are making great music that you don't want to miss. If you'd like to preview the EP you can listen to it below.
If you're in Chicago, Landmarks will play The Observatory on Saturday, September 13. Click here for details.
Over the past few years Chicago has been breeding a new crop of incredibly talented bands and cultivating a thriving scene that is quietly catching the attention of fans far beyond the borders of Chicagoland. Today we're very excited to announce that Landmarks, another stand-out Chicago band, has agreed to join Walk-In Records for the vinyl release of their Self-Titled EP. Taking essentials from the psychedelic, shoegaze and dream-pop genres, Landmarks have created their own place in the often crowded indie-rock world. This EP will fit nicely with your Real Estate, Deerhunter, and War on Drugs LPs. There are a few moments when you may even hear a bit the Stone Roses in these songs. Take a listen for yourself...
Right now, plans are being made to get this EP pressed to vinyl. We'll keep you posted as to when it will be available and all the other details of the vinyl package. In the meantime, stay connected with Landmarks and Walk-In to get all the details as they become available.
It's shaping up to be a busy spring for Sister Crystals. If you are in or near Chicago in the next few weeks there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't catch Sister Crystals at least once. The first show on the list is tomorrow night, February 18th at Schubas. Here's the complete list.
February 18 - Schubas
March 7 - Cafe Mustache
March 15 - Animal Kingdom
April 4 - Observatory
April 9 - Hideout
April 11 - Multi Kulti
April 23 - Burlington
It really helps to have friends who have great cameras and know what to do with them. Check out these great pictures of the Sister Crystals LP my friend Maura put together. Of course pictures don't allow you to hear the spectacular sounds that bone colored vinyl has trapped inside it's grooves. Order a copy and complete the package!
We had a few t-shirts made for those of you who love us so much you want to advertise it to the world. The shirt features the Walk-In Records logo on a charcoal heather shirt. It comes in lots of sizes but numbers are limited so grab one while you can. BUY ONE HERE!
There's a lot of excitement building for this LP and there should be. This is a special record and you don't have to wait too much longer to hear it. The LP is being pressed right now and if all goes according to schedule we should have this ready in late May or June. We will start taking pre-orders for the LP in the next few weeks, so check this site or follow us on Facebook and or Twitter to get the news first. We're got some pretty sweet plans for the pre-order, so don't miss it.
Jordon Salveson is preparing his latest offering, an as yet untitled second EP of material recently recorded in Nashville. These are Jordon's first recordings with his band and the results are oh so good. Here's a taste of what's to come...
The EP doesn't have a release date yet but it will be this spring. Don't forget, Jordon's debut EP, Devil, Don't Wake Me Up, is still fresh and available as a name your price download.
Finally, we reported to you earlier in the year about he demise of Brooklyn's Spaces. While we still miss having them around, we still love their record, Nothing Exists but Atoms and the Void. If you love it too and really meant to pick up the LP you might want to hurry. We've got around 25 copies left. This record was pressed in an edition of 250, all on blood-red vinyl. It comes with a fantastic silk-screened poster, a download card and printed insert.
It's just over a month since we released our first LP, Spaces - Nothing Exists but Atoms and the Void. If you follow what we're up to on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr then you've been hearing a lot about it. Spaces and Walk-In want to take a minute to thank each of you for making this record a great success. We've sold well over half of the 250 copies we pressed and the remaining copies are moving fast. If you're planning on getting one for yourself or buying it for a friend, don't wait, click here and get yours today. Thank you again for your support and check back soon for an update from Sister Crystals.
Now's your chance! Spaces will take the stage at Public Assembly in Brooklyn on April 18th. The show starts at 8:00...get the details here https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/139868246138672/
There are plenty of reasons to see Spaces live, but if you need a really good one, check out the band playing "Edge of Forever" back in October.
As Walk-In Records slowly creeps toward its sixth month of existence, it seems like a good time to take a minute to give an update on what's going on around here.
As I'm sure you know our first release will be the first album from Chicago's Magic City. February has seen the band playing several shows around Chicago. If you're in Chicago or can get there, you can catch Magic City's next show on March 1 at Double Door. To see what you've been missing check out this video from their most recent show.
Also, Magic City's Little Bits EP, released in November on Feel Trip Records is now available on cassette as well as download. If haven't heard this yet please get over to their Bandcamp page and grab this. The coming weeks will see Magic City hit the studio to start recording their new record. We will keep you posted on their progress.
Beyond all of the great things going on with Magic City, a lot of people want to know if Walk-In will be releasing any other records. The answer is yes, most definitely. I can't say who the other artists on the label will be at this point as nothing is official. I can tell you that we've talked to or have plans to get in touch with several artists about working with us but nothing is finalized at this point. When something becomes official you'll be among the first to know. With that being said, the philosophy around here is to put out music that we're really passionate about, not releasing records just for the sake of releasing something. If that means we don't release another record for two years, so be it. As the they say, sometimes good things take time.
Magic City have a few shows coming up in Chicago. If you live in the Chicagoland area or can get there go check out these guys for yourself. Next show is February 2nd at the Hard Rock Cafe on W. Ontario. Show starts at 9:00 and is a mere $5. Find more details here... https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/172351589535820/
